Thanks for what you’re doing. I talked about your blog and how guys guys are approaching parenthood yesterday in my sermon. We had lots of really good responses, and it was an encouragement to at least one family with a son who has special needs.

Jim, this really speaks to where Americans live, so much so is it a part of our culture that it is like the water to the fish. It’s just our reality, materialism that is. I just heard an interesting view by a rabbi on the story of the tower of Babel. In short and in part is the idea of the bricks, not stones mind you but bricks. In the NT we are stones built up to construct the church. The bricks are made by man and are all alike and are held together with the mortar, which the rabbi was saying is directly related to matter or materialism. So men are made to be alike and bound by the mortar and ultimately enslaved.

Forgiveness is not always as cut and dry as we picture it though. Many times we read accounts or see accounts of it in the news or TV and think wow isn’t that great! But we never really see the pain or sacrifice that goes with that. Forgiveness must not only be learned it must become part of who we are.
